Amberley School Closure Website Online

On the 22 February 2007, our school community was told our 145 year old school must close because the Amberley Defence Base was to expand to make our current site unviable. The Action group fought hard and argued well. We secured $26.8 million from the Federal Government to RELOCATE Amberley School to a suitable site, in the local area. The QLD State Government has, one year later, failed to make any announcement about the future site of Amberley State School. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!
Please help us get the message to Mr Welford that we need an answer now. The School will be within the secure perimeter fence of the Defence Base by July 2009.
We are asking for our school to be built in our community. It is very hard to believe a school for approximately 330 students, in a country environment, will cost the entire $26.8 million. The rest of the money is at the disposal of the QLD Government. We are just asking the QLD Government to honour the agreement made in March 2007 when Mr Welford promised to relocate the school if we helped to secure the funding.
MR WELFORD IS NOT LISTENING!
